Yesterday morning marked our first races of the season! Craig ran in the first annual Lamont River Run 5K. The race started in Lamont on Leonard Street and actually ran through our neighborhood! It was too convenient NOT to particpate. Craig ran a spectacular race and took second place overall with a time of 18:30 (5:58 pace). He won $10, which is funny because he said his racing is now providing income to the family (HA, HA!!!). :)
They also had a Gator Gallop (kids run) for kids 8 and under that Kyle and Clara (yes, Clara) participated in. Clara told us all week long that she wanted to run in the race with Kyle. We told her she could run it if she wanted to, thinking there was no way she would do it when it actually came time to race. However, she surpised both Craig and I by lining up with the other kids and taking off with them. It didn't take long though before the rest of the kids blew by her and she was left in the dust. You will see from the pictures that she was by far the youngest kid out there. Oh well, she gave it her best.
Kyle, on the other hand, was speedy as usual and finished third overall. He received some Starbusts and an Airhead upon finishing. He was super excited, and we are very proud of both him and Clara. It was a very fun morning and great start to our racing season. :)
