Our Little Cub Scout

Kyle had his first Cub Scouts meeting this week!  Doesn't he look cute in his uniform?  We still have a few badges to attach to it now that we know where they all go.  In any case, I think it is going to be a great experience for him this year.  We will keep you posted on his scouting activities.

ArtPrize - Part 1

Today we took the family to downtown Grand Rapids to check out ArtPrize, an open art competition giving away the world's largest art prize ($250,000 for 1st place).  Since I work downtown, it has been fun to watch all of the art go up in the city.  I wanted to make sure Craig and the kids had a chance to see it.  The competition officially runs from September 23 - October 10.  However, a lot of the art is on display already.  Hopefully we will make it downtown at least one more time before the competition ends.  If you live anywhere near Grand Rapids, I highly recommend that you check out ArtPrize.  You won't be disappointed!

Penguins Win!

Kyle's fall soccer team, Penguins, won their first game 4-3!  Kyle started the game at forward and scored two goals right away!  After that, he moved to goalie, later defense, then Coach Duane gave him another shot at forward where he scored his third goal.  It was fun to watch him play.  Actually, it was fun to watch his entire team play so well together.  They are a great bunch of kids.  We are all looking forward to next week's game already.

Another 'Lost' Tooth

I received a voice mail message from our daycare center this afternoon. They wanted to let me know that Kyle lost another tooth! This is the third tooth he has lost since August 8th. Great news, huh? The only problem is that they couldn't find the tooth - literally. And . . . . . . Kyle was worried that the tooth fairy wouldn't come tonight!  They told Kyle that we (Craig & I) would handle the situation at home tonight.

So, what is a parent to do when their child loses a tooth and expects the tooth fairy to retrieve it? This is certainly unchartered territory for Craig and I.  We talked about it and ultimately decided that the best option would be for Kyle to leave the tooth fairy a note. Here is what he wrote:

Dear Tooth Fairy,

The tooth is in my belly.

From Kyle

Oh yeah . . . . . . . Kyle told us he swallowed the tooth while he was eating lunch.  He said he was eating his chips and then realized the tooth was missing.  Nice, huh?  :)

Kids . . . . . . you gotta love 'em!  :)
